When Your Provider Asks You to Count Kicks
If your midwife or doctor asked you to count kicks, ask them how they want you to count and what to do if a count is lower than usual. Then set the closest goal in Bumpi Kicks, which offers 8, 10 or 12 kicks per session, and use History to keep a record.

Before and after your first count
Ask how they want you to count
Providers differ. Ask when to count, how many movements they are looking for, and over how long.
Ask what to do if the count is low
Get the answer in advance, including who to call and at what hours, so you're not working it out in the moment.
Set the closest goal
The app offers goals of 8, 10 and 12 kicks per session. If your provider gave you another number, tell them what the app offers and follow their advice.
Keep the record
Your 8 most recent saved sessions list their date, time, length and kick count, and a Pro subscription includes a PDF export of your sessions.
Questions about this
My provider gave me a different number. What do I do?
Follow your provider. Choose the closest goal in Settings, or count on paper if you prefer, and keep the app only as a record.
Does the app tell me when to call?
No. It cannot tell you whether your baby is well. If movements feel reduced or different from usual, contact your midwife, doctor or maternity unit straight away.
